TW body policing
Whenever I see stuff like “I don’t shave because it’s a violation of my body’s natural state” I’m like “How ‘bout not showering either, getting rid of your stink is also a violation of your body’s natural state, no?”Too much body hair, esp. on women, can be disgusting. Clean-shaven armpits are way more practical, particularly in summer heat;
Maybe for you, but not universally. My deodorant stays put much better if my armpits are hairy. More surface area, etc.
Also, I find it interesting that you say “too much body hair, esp. on women, can be disgusting” (emphasis mine), when cisgendered men usually have more body hair than cisgendered women.
shaved legs look better,
This is definitely subjective.
and keeping your pubes in check (which does NOT mean you should be porn star bald down there) is also good, if not for others then for the sake of your own personal hygiene.
If you bathe regularly, it makes no difference how much pubic hair you have.
And if you still choose not to shave, at least don’t present it like it’s something that makes you very special. It’s a personal choice, but it’s not a major issue, and it’s certainly not important enough to be waved around like a neon-colored flag. LOOK ERRYBODY, I’M HAIRY!!! Good for you, but why should anyone else give a fuck?
Actually, having the guts to stand up against a misogynistic body standard and people who think how much hair you have is any of their business, does make someone pretty special. (Which is not to say that people who shave are gutless.)
Thank you, greenchestnuts. I love you ok.
